Aerospace Grinding

With over twenty years of experience in creep feed grinding aerospace components, Abrasive-Form has become a recognized industry leader with our fine quality (ISO 9001:2008 and AS9100B registered) and on-time deliveries. Our aerospace work scope commonly includes dovetail grinding on turbine blades, radial grinding of turbine nozzle segments and full processing of turbine shrouds.

Meeting stringent engineering requirements is critical to the success of any aerospace grinding application. To accomplish this, our engineers have experience designing production fixtures and gages for the complex turbine airfoil components. Before production grinding and machining begins we perform rigorous first article inspection methods and procedures. The parts are measured with highly accurate CMM’s, optical comparators and dedicated hard gages. After the dimensional accuracy has been accepted, metallurgical examination is conducted per our customer’s specifications. Upon acceptance of the metallurgical evaluation the grinding process parameters are frozen to assure future part integrity and quality.

Creep feed grinding is capable of very fast stock removal rates on exotic materials like hardened nickel and cobalt based alloys. We maintain tolerances within .0001" and the repeatability is exceptional since the grinding wheel can continuously be dressed with a precision diamond roll.
