Abrasive-Form, Inc. was founded in 1976 by Ken Kummer to specialize in close tolerance linear form grinding. At that time, linear form grinding, as well as creep feed grinding, were relatively new processes in the United States. Little was known about its true economic value to manufacturing and the ability to eliminate processes by grinding forms from the heat-treated solid. Until recently, equipment capable of accurate and reliable production was only manufactured in Europe.
Eager to serve a large variety of industries to insure the future of the company, we chose to grow by meeting our customer's more difficult needs. Our valued employees gained expertise the hard way, step by step and through exposure to many different and challenging problems. Meeting those opportunities allowed us to earn our standing reputation as a leader in the Creep-Feed grinding industry. In 2000, Abrasive-Form merged with sister division, Roselle Tool brining our tooling capability in-house adding to our capacity. In 2001, Abrasive-Form moved to Bloomingdale to a larger facility to accommodate our growth.
The trend in manufacturing continues toward closer tolerances, more difficult to machine materials, outsourcing and partnerships with customers. Abrasive-Form is positioned to take advantage of these trends, creating opportunities for our employees in a challenging and rewarding environment.
