Abrasive-Form has 20 years of experience machining industrial gas turbines components. Every day our facility is grinding industrial gas turbine blades, turbine vanes, turbine nozzles and turbine shrouds. Our creep feed grinders routinely machine turbine blades up to 33” long, for use in the largest gas turbines. Our work scope commonly includes dovetail, platform and tip grinding of blades and radial grinding of gas turbine nozzle segments.
To accomplish this, our engineers have vast experience designing production fixtures and gages for these complex industrial gas turbine components. Before production grinding and machining begins we perform rigorous first article inspection methods and procedures. The parts are measured with highly accurate CMM’s, optical comparators and dedicated hard gages. After the dimensional accuracy has been accepted, metallurgical examination is conducted per our customer’s specifications. Upon acceptance of the metallurgical evaluation the grinding process parameters are frozen to assure future part integrity and quality.
With the stringent engineering requirements of industrial gas turbines components, creep feed grinding is one of the most cost effective and efficient machining methods used especially on many types of exotic alloy materials.
